New Alpine Collection Makes Official Debut at Summer Fancy Food Show


(Fairfield, New Jersey) Schuman Cheese, long noted for its leadership in the Italian cheese market, is showing its prowess in new regional flavors with the official launch of its new Alpine Collection at the Summer Fancy Food Show, June 25-27 in New York City.

Introduced under the Yellow Door Creamery brand, the Alpine Collection features a trio of specialty cheeses inspired by the Swiss Alps but handcrafted in Wisconsin. Yellow Door Creamery offers an ideal platform for delivering unique formats, vibrant flavor profiles and blends to complement Schuman Cheese’s full line of world-class Italian and artisan cheeses.

The complex, extraordinary flavors of the new Alpine cheeses begin with cow’s milk sourced exclusively from local family farms. Produced in small batches in copper vats, each hand-smeared semi-hard wheel is then cured in caves using natural Alpine aging techniques. The results are so decadent, you can’t help but taste the passion and artistry head cheesemaker Christophe Megevand poured into creating this collection that pays homage to his home region.

  • Altu, inspired by Gruyere, boasts a royal complexity of aroma and flavor. The taste is fruity at first, but finishes earthy and nutty.
  • Monteau, inspired by Abondance, delivers the perfect balance of taste with intense fruity flavors, along with hints of butter and hazelnut.
  • Vali, inspired by Raclette, is a creamy delight. Sweet and nutty with a pleasant aroma, it melts like a dream.

At the Schuman Cheese booth (#444), attendees also will have the opportunity to sample a cheeses from Spain and these award-winning favorites:

NEW El Pastor, the latest brand to expand Schuman Cheese’s roster of distinguished imports. El Pastor Iberico, crafted in Spain using a blend of fresh cow, sheep and goat milk, is a slightly tangy cheese with a buttery flavor and light herbaceous notes that is perfect for tapas, melting and shredding. El Pastor Goat Cheese features a rich, creamy flavor and smooth texture great for spreading and slicing.

Yellow Door Creamery Hand Rubbed Fontina, which recently was named a Top 20 Finalist among more than 2,300 entries in the 2017 U.S. Championship Cheese Contest, where it also earned a best of class award.

Cello Asiago Pepper Jack Whisps, the newest addition to the Whisps family. Award-winning Cello Asiago adds a nutty, savory taste that complements the peppery heat for a surprisingly complex flavor in every whispy, crispy bite.
