Sam's Club's New Advent Calendar Is Here to Make Your December Cheesier

If you're here, it's probably because you agree that cheese is one of the greatest innovations on this planet. Or perhaps you're looking for an exciting way to anticipate Christmas. These days, the advent calendar market is saturated with all kinds of options — wine advent calendarspet advent calendarsjam advent calendars, and even spiked seltzer advent calendars — and specialty grocers like Aldi, Costco, and Sam's Club get in on the fun every year with their own iterations.

This year, it looks like Sam's Club is all about British cheese. The bulk grocer just dropped an Ilchester Cheese Advent Calendar for anyone looking to add a little dairy to their December. Ilchester's Cheese Advent Calendar counts down December with a selection of five different cheeses: Applewood Cheddar, Jarlsberg, Ilchester Cheddar, Ilchester Red Leicester, and Ilchester Wensleydale with Cranberries. The cheese, which is imported from England, suits both vegetarian and omnivorous diets.

But little round cheeses aren't the only surprise you'll find inside this advent calendar. Each day comes with a corny joke, so you can have some figurative cheese along with your sample-sized cheddar. The calendar retails for $16.98, which means each cheese and joke pairing comes to about 68 cents.

If you're looking to enjoy some cheese in a more secular and affordable manner, Sam's Club has also released the Cello Cheese Flight Trio, which retails for $7.48. The selection here includes Copper Kettle Cheese, a hard, domestic cow's milk cheese that resembles Parmesan; Altu Cheese, a semi-hard, Gruyere-style cheese; and Tuscan Rubbed Frontal Cheese, a semi-soft cow's milk cheese rubbed with a blend of Italian herbs and spices. All you need is some crackers, fruit, and the beverage of your choice for a quick, well-balanced cheese plate.
